This report is based on the largest dataset IMCA has ever compiled, with over one billion working hours submitted by 198 marine contractor Members.

Key Highlights from the 2024 Report:

‘Line of Fire’ Incidents Remain the Leading Cause of LTIs:

These accounted for 52% of all lost time injuries (LTIs) in 2024, highlighting a continued area of concern and a priority focus for IMCA in 2025.

Lost Time Injury Rate (LTIR) Steady at 0.3:

The LTIR remains unchanged from 2023, maintaining the progress made since 2010 when it was more than twice as high.

Total Recordable Injury Rate (TRIR) Slightly Increased:

The TRIR rose marginally from 1.07 to 1.1 per million hours, while offshore TRIR saw an improvement from 1.47 in 2023 to 1.38 in 2024.

Fatal Accident Rate (FAR) at Record Low:

The FAR dropped from 0.63 to 0.3 per 100 million hours, with offshore fatalities falling to their lowest recorded level at 0.18.

Slip and Trip Incidents Second Leading Cause of LTIs:

These incidents made up 22% of LTIs, further underlining the need for continued vigilance and preventative measures.
